The Audio-Technica AT2020USB+ condenser microphone is a remarkable choice for those seeking an exceptional recording experience. With a focus on simplicity and quality, this microphone is tailored for singers, podcasters, and creators looking to elevate their audio game without a steep learning curve.
At the core of its features is the condenser microphone itself, renowned for its studio-grade performance. The AT2020USB+ connects to your device effortlessly via USB, eliminating the need for complex setups or additional audio interfaces. It’s a true plug-and-play solution that streamlines the recording process.
One of its standout features is the cardioid polar pattern, ensuring that your recordings capture the intended sound source while effectively reducing background noise. This makes it ideal for vocals, single instrument recordings, and podcasting. The cardioid pattern is especially useful when you need to isolate your voice from ambient sounds.
To add convenience to your recording experience, the AT2020USB+ comes equipped with a built-in headphone jack. Real-time monitoring allows you to hear your recordings as they happen, enabling you to make necessary adjustments on the fly. This feature is especially valuable when recording vocals or podcasts, as it helps you achieve the best results with minimal hassle.
The microphone itself is built to last, with excellent shock mounting and a reliable pivoting stand mount. This durability ensures that your investment in the AT2020USB+ will serve you well for years to come. It’s a testament to Audio-Technica’s commitment to delivering quality audio equipment.
In the realm of pros, the AT2020USB+ boasts exceptional sound quality. The microphone captures audio with remarkable clarity and warmth, making it a fantastic choice for vocals and podcasting. Its budget-friendly price tag further adds to its appeal, offering impressive value for its cost. Moreover, the microphone’s ease of use and real-time monitoring capabilities are noteworthy advantages for both beginners and experienced users.
As for the cons, the microphone’s cardioid pattern, while excellent for isolating sound sources, may not be the most versatile choice for users looking to record multiple voices or instruments simultaneously. Additionally, it’s important to note that the AT2020USB+ exclusively offers USB connectivity, which may not suit advanced setups requiring XLR connections.
In conclusion, the Audio-Technica AT2020USB+ condenser microphone is a reliable and cost-effective option for those who prioritize sound quality and user-friendly features. If you’re a singer, podcaster, or content creator in search of a microphone that offers exceptional performance without the complexities of high-end equipment, the AT2020USB+ is an excellent choice that won’t disappoint.

Small size looks toyish and sound is ok for the price point

My friend loves this retro microphone she only thinks there is a downfall is that she wishes it just clip onto the stand instead of screwing in. Because she likes holding her microphones.
To me I think it’s a great microphone it has a echo to it when it’s on which old retro microphones always had. I sang into it a couple times when I was just hanging out with her dog when she would leave for an hour. It’s a great microphone my view and the echo makes you barely notice unless you just completely ignoring the singing part and listening to the microphone.
It’s a great style I give it 2 thumbs up my friend is on the fence with 1 thumb up and 1 thumb down. But two different opinions in the same review makes it an interesting to see what each person is into.

This is a great microphone. It works great. Bought it for my son for a gift. He is very happy with it and loves the retro style. It was a really good value for the price.

I bought this mic for a karaoke party for a 60 year old. The mic looked really cool, and the guests complemented the sound quality. However, although it looks like a vintage chrome mic, the outside is actually a chromed plastic, so you must be gentle with it. Great value, low price, good sound.

I used it as a video prop.

This is actually a pro–sounding mic and at an amazing price. Imagine a Shure SM58 at a third of the cost but housed in plastic instead of metal.
I did a side-by-side comparison with this mic and a Shure SM58. To my ears, which are pretty sensitive, the two mics sounded identical on vocals (male with range from low F to high G), and I actually preferred it over the SM-58 for an acoustic guitar and acoustic bass. Sorry I didn’t do electrics because I only have a dinky practice amp.
I think the trade-off for the low price is in the material. An SM58 is nigh–indestructible, able to take insane forms of abuse from high impacts to freezing, and even cooking. This mic, on the other hand, is a light, rigid plastic of some kind. My initial impressions were just don’t drop it on the floor or anything like that and you’ll be fine, as long as it’s handled carefully. However, the threads for mounting to a stand are also plastic, and I do wonder how long the plastic threads will endure their job without wear. I’ve had no such problems yet, though. If one only uses stands compatible with the metal adapter (included), this should not be a concern.
Contrary to amateur complaints…
THIS MICROPHONE HAS NO PROBLEMS WITH BUZZ OR RADIO FREQUENCY INTERFERENCE.
Any such problems come from the CABLE, not from the microphone.
The cable included with this microphone is just a bonus; it is of poor quality and not suitable for serious use. Always use a low-impedance (XLR) cable to avoid such problems. No microphone in the world can guarantee a signal free of unwanted interference if it is connected to a cheap high-impedance cable like the one included here. Toss the cable, keep the mic.
This is an amazing–sounding dynamic microphone for home/studio use and at very low price; just handle it gently.
Oh, and it does look really cool. The photos are accurate.
Wishing everyone good health.

great quality, good price with vintage look.

I only used it for a Prop in a music video. I have a professional recording studio so I would NEVER use this for an actual recording.

This has been my main microphone for my ham radio station since I first bought it, and it has performed surprisingly well! Contacts report that it sounds amazing over the air, and the actual response of the mic as shown on the meters of the various ham radios I’ve used it on has been absolutely excellent!
While the plug end has to be changed to one which fits your radio, it is a fairly easy job for anyone with minimal soldering skills. It’s a 5 – 10 minute job at best, and well worth the effort.
As for the construction of the microphone: while it is true that it is plastic, the look and feel of it are quite impressive, and when mounted on a mic boom, you won’t notice the difference anyway. Besides, it’s performance that us hams are interested in, and for ham radio applications, this mic has that in spades!
So, overall I would say that it is a great alternative to expensive brand name microphones, and will perform just as well as any of the big names in ham radio.
Save your money, and BUY THIS MIC instead of shelling out 4 or 5 times as much for a brand name one that won’t be any better than you’ll get with this microphone,

I purchased this item for the first birthday party I ever had. I called it “A Night of Elegance”. The ladies dressed on all red with black accessories and the gentlemen dress in black suits with a white shirt, red tie, and all black shoes. It decorated everything by myself with a stage where I had the mic so It gave a Jazz Clue feel. I had a sax player, poem read (wrote just for me) singers. A must buy. The sound of the microphone is top notch!!!

Really like the looks of it and easy to use however had a bit of difficulty with the attachment to the mic stand. Had to buy a different stand to set it up.
