Honestly, I have spent a whole night looking for a decent priced wireless headset – mono and stereo with a working mute button for my office meetings in Windows. And finally found this one and it works 100%. I was skeptical as QnA was all biased, one saying “Mute doesn’t work on PC, Laptops”, others saying otherwise. The Bluetooth pairing was a breeze. Once I opened my laptop’s Bluetooth, it identified Tao and paired easily. Then the tricky part is going to Control Panel > Sound > Input, where I have to manually select “Headset (TAOTronics TT-BH041 Hand..) from Choose Your Input Device dropdown under this Input section. Once done, now the input device i.e. mic is taken as this Tao headset and output was by default Tao. I did this only once. Then when I turn off the headset and turn it on the next day, my above setting is established by default. Thus, every time I click the Mute button on the outside tip of the boom mic, “Mute On” brief message is played and bam, my mic is in mute, no matter whether you are recording your voice or speaking in Teams, Skype, or anything, the sound input is completely on mute, the app would definitely show its mic on, but the sound is not picked up. Again, I click the Mute button briefly for a second, and the “Mute Off” message is heard in the speaker and the mic is back on. Since I chose Output and Input as Tao in my Control Panel > Sound, when I tried to check the configuration of the sound through Team before a meeting, it was picked as Tao as default over there as well.
The recording quality is better, I can hear myself very clean and clear. The noise cancellation is decent. Humming, small radio playing, adults having conversations in the background, not-to-treble disturbing sounds are decently minimized but not completely. Sharp sounds like kids shouting, clanking of spoons, etc. with high pitch and treble are picked by the mic though.
The speaker quality is very good. I listened to some HD music from youtube and it was sounding very good with good bass. Bass actually surprised me because I had a low expectation of bass as it is a mono speaker focused on chats and meetings.
It sits very comfortably on my left ear for a very long time once I adjusted it. The sponge on the speaker is also has a feel of memory foam, soft, and spongy.
The box has a Headset, USB Bluetooth dongle (for laptops without Bluetooth), about 2Ft long micro-USB charging cable, User Guide manual, Pairing Instruction manual.
Every time I turn it on by pressing and holding the MFB for 3 seconds, it turns on and says ‘pairing’, and instantly the connection is established.

I have a small motorhome that is very noisy going down the road. I had tried using AirPods including the AirPods Pro with noise canceling. No one could hear me very well using just the phone or AirPods and I couldn’t hear them too well plus holding a phone while driving made my hand go to sleep. I looked at this style of headset and saw there were some for over $200 and some for much less. I thought it was a gamble to get this under $50 unit but the specs seemed good. I just took it on a cross country trip and it worked great. The noise canceling microphone worked so well that people I called thought I was joking when I said I was driving. The bluetooth connection worked every time. The battery never quit even though I only charged one night in the middle of the trip. It’s comfortable to wear and feels solid. The only drawback is the speaker has very little low frequency ability so someone with a low deep voice sounds a little off but clear. Set the volume lower than what you think when you are placing a call because the ring is much softer than the person answering will be.

I have had many BT devices which are used daily for meetings / conference calls, and general calls.
Expensive ones and cheap ones, in ear, hook on, and headset style. These days I much prefer headset style, as they are just better all around, especially in battery life.
I have an Mpow trucker headset I have been using for about a year, have had to glue the ear pad on a couple of times, but still works well. I have a long out of production Bose earpiece that sounds like crap these days for my personal phone, so wanted to start using the Mpow to replace that instead of connecting it back and forth between work and personal cell phones, and get a dedicated one for my work phone. Perused Amazon for a couple of days, and decided on this TaoTronics one. I have other BT devices by them, some great desklamps as well.
So, on with the review –
Range – Probably the best I have had. I don’t have a big house, my home office is at one end of it. Pretty much every BT I have had starts acting wonky if I go the the other end, which is just under 40 feet, and pretty much unimpeded by walls or such. The Tao didn’t flinch. Right of the bat that impressed me, as I was expecting it to start breaking up. Then, an unintentional test, had it on during a call, and needed to play some musical chairs with our vehicles in our driveway, then into my shed to grab something. Went outside, moved both cars while on the call, got my things from the shed, and when I was done realized the cell phone was still sitting on my desk the whole time. I usually always carry it with me when I start moving around, due to breakup, and I forgot to grab it when I went outside. So, that sealed the impressiveness of the range with me.
Comfort / Sound (with this, these 2 go hand in hand)- This one is a “your mileage may vary”…..While the ear pad IS very comfortable, due to it having an overlay versus being an open cup with a surround, and good padding, for me, causes some issues. One is that it gets warm and can cause some sweat buildup when worn for long periods, depending on surrounding temperature. Second, and this may be a plus for some, is isolation. It does block out sound better than a cup style, but working from home I don’t really need that, and it blocks out secondary conversation, so you really can only hear out of the other ear, and the one wearing it, even when not on a call, is really isolated. Then, due to having an overlay with tiny sound holes instead of being a cup, can make callers sound muffled. People who have crappy headsets on the other end, and normally sound screechy, this smooths them right out. But, it can make normally clear callers sound muffled. I would prefer this to have a cup style, I think it would sound much better, and do away with any of these issues.
It is bulkier than your average headset, but for me, I don’t even notice. If you want svelte, this isn’t it. But the slightly larger size most likely makes for the better range and battery life.
As other people have mentioned, it really should have a small pad on the piece that rests against the opposite side of your head, though I have not noticed much discomfort.
Functions – Better than most. Just the fact of having the multi-function button to answer and end calls very easily, and separate from the mute button, is a boon over most, and the volume buttons are very easy to find by feel. Excellent in this regard.
Mic / Incoming volume – I have not had anyone say they had any issue hearing me, or heard any background noise on my end. And call volume is far better than most. One problem I have had with others, is limited volume range. Well, this thing can get LOUD, so that is a huge plus for me. I don’t have any hearing issues, yet, but if I do, I think this thing will compensate, lol.
Battery life – So far, excellent. Got it on a Sunday, charged it overnight, and started using it first thing Monday morning. I didn’t get a low battery message until Friday afternoon, and was using it a good 5 -6 hours per day with no charging during that time. Then, I put it on the charger for about 15 min, then had to use it again, and got another hour out of that before I was done work. AND – a nice female voice tells you the battery is low, so no annoying beeping in your ear either.
