Great sound, but didn’t work properly on my iPhone 14 Pro, so I tested it on iPhone 13. Liked the sound quality, but the main drawback is that you can’t use it with a case on your iPhone, so you have to take off your phone case every time. Better buy DJI Mic, it can work with any case and sounds a little better.

Excellent in every way, except for one. Most iPhone cases obstruct the connection to the Lighting port on the phone. Unable to find a new case that I was relatively sure would work, I had to cut and file down the case that I already have. Otherwise, I’m very pleased.

Has worked well! At first there would be very invasive static noise about 15 seconds into any recording, but it was fixed by updating firmware on the device via the official Rode app. Expect to do this update before it starts working properly.

“Fuzzy windshield” reduces audio to unusable level. Without the windshield, the audio is no better than the iPhone’s built-in mic.

Looking to record live music video – open mics and small shows. Was great on directionality. Don’t know if this Rode had bad build quality but it crackled on recordings. Tested it with a lightning extender, direct into iPhone 11 Pro with case and ultimately without case. Intermittent crackling. SENT IT BACK.

I saw some pretty good YouTube reviews for this mic. NOT the case at all. Every time I attempted to make a recording, the playback was static and crackling over the video. Super disappointed. The microphone plug in does not fit over an iphone case, and you have to keep taking the mic off to playback to make sure the sound it working. Nightmare product.

I’m just going to throw this thing away. Maybe one time out of ten, you’ll get a good, nice, clear recording that works well. The rest of the time, you’ll check the recording and it sounds like you’re underwater, or there’s a persistent crackling whine running through the whole audio, or it just drops in and out for no reason… terrible. The worst part is, you have no idea WHEN it’s messing up and when it’s doing well. Complete gamble. Can’t count how much video and audio i’ve had to entirely re-shoot, just because this thing was an awful purchase.

No good with a case protector I plugged into my iPhone 14, and it wouldn’t sit secure with my case protector surrounding the iPhone. Once the case protector was removed, it plugged in securely. I’m going to have to say this is a significant design flaw. Any iPhone attachment should be designed to connect with or without an iPhone case attached. It’s not acceptable that you should have to remove the case first before attaching this device. Sadly this microphone has been on sale for a lot of years now, and it’s disappointing to see a lack of further product development on show here when it comes to such basic design considerations.Sound quality on first impressions was fine, and it gets rid of a lot of external noise compared to the inbuilt iphone microphone. I’ll be testing outdoors and seeing how the dead cat stacks up in windy weather.
