It’s a great product and works perfectly with my SLRs even in noisy settings. I wanted to use it on a Samsung phone though. I bought the xlr converter and everything but the phone refuses to acknowledge the mic. THere’s just no audio. But I guess it wasn’t the intended purpose for the mic. Works great with an SLR

For a sub-$100 mic (at my time of purchase), I’m very happy with the purchase.As other reviewers have mentioned, it does pick up handling sound. I didn’t notice it the first few times it was used, because the talent I was working with has steady hands. Then I worked with another talent that was more fidgety. We had to cut a few times to ask her to be mindful of her mic handling.Being an omnidirectional mic can be both good and bad for interviews. Obviously you’re going to pick up background noise in loud settings, so you have to be prepared for that. On the plus side, it does pick up good sound even if the interviewer doesn’t have the mic exactly centered.For the basic interviews I’ve been using it for, I’m happy with the VP64AL.

I recently purchased this interview mic in order to properly conduct interviews in the field. The handle is long enough for my mic flag and for my hand to comfortable hold onto it. This is a omni-directional dynamic mic which makes mic placement not as critical as in the case of an uni-directional pattern. Because it’s a dynamic, even though it’s omni-directional, it doesn’t pick up as much background noise as a condenser. The one thing that you must be careful about is not to be moving your hands around on the mic when you are interviewing. It does pick up these handling noises. If you just practice good mic habits, this will not be a problem. I paid about $78 for this mic and I’m extremely pleased with it, having already conducted about 8 interviews.

I used this Shure hand mic twice with excellent results. I needed a good omni mic for interviews with one or two persons. This mic has excellent sound quality, good volume output, and rugged construction to make this Shure mic an excellent choice. It’s handle is long enought to add a standard sized 2 inch height mic flag for my biz logo under the windscreen leaving enough room for my hand. Good fitting XLR connection at base of handle. Includes good quality windscreen. Easy to use with complete instructions and specs and a nice warranty make this mic a great choice!

You’ll definitely need to make sure you have a pre-amp set up if you’re connecting this directly to a computer. It simply will not work on its own without an amp of some sort.However the voice quality is excellent and it’s a perfect microphone for interviews, podcasting, or other applications. It’s limited pickup can be a blessing in disguise when outdoors as background sound is virtually nonexistant compared to louder mics.

I love this mic for video work. Excellent, clear stereo audio, and it works beautifully with my Canon XA-20. Since I’ve had this, I never use any of the other mics that I used with the camera for dialog in the studio. No more messing with recording to one track and copying it to the second track. This sounds way better than that ever did. This will let you do things that would otherwise require two separate mics, and having to mess with mixing them properly.

good omni-directional micthe only downside is the xlr connector fits loose when you plug in an xlr audio cable… you have to make sure not to ground the mic casing.
