I have tried many booms. I will tell you this – they are almost all flimsy and not able to handle the job for the duration. This Samson boom is the exception. It’s heavy duty, and appears to be worthy of the road. I will be buying a few more of these to have around the studio. Don’t hesitate on these. They’re fantastic.

Talking about the mic stand:
Disappointing. It’s built with robust and heavy material, but the the glossy finish looked cheap and lacked a better finish. For instance, you can see a big scratch in one of the legs that was probably made by the main tube during packing – that ending was really rough and worked like a scraper. Secondly, the stand wasn’t super stable.
But what made me return this stand immediately was the description: picture shows a mic stand with a telescopic boom arm, but the one I received hadn’t it – I also took a picture showing it. And the box said MK5, so the store didn’t send me the wrong product.
In the end, I ended up buying a K&M stand. But if I needed a good mic stand with telescopic arm, and you won’t use super heavy mics, I would recommend the “Hola! Music Mic Stand”: it’s just a few bucks more expensive than the Samson MK5, but it’s better built, and it looks much better too.
Talking about the store that sold me the mic stand (Photo4Less):
the refund process was smooth. I explained the situation and they refunded me the day after I shipped the stand. Kudos to them!

I bought this as a boom stand for my Samson USB mike. And, it is good. Sturdy metal construction, would have liked the book to have been a bit longer as it’s about a metre or so – but that’s an aside. The extension lead is of no use to me at the moment because it’s a standard mike lead; similarly with the wind screen it’s not something I’ve used or planning to at the moment so I can’t make a judgement on it other than it fits the mike. It’s easy to assemble with just a few twists and pulls, I attached my shock mount to the stand fitting without problems. So, yep, glad I bought it and worth the price.

Very sturdy and high quality build. Good attention to detail with how this model is engineered: The legs do not hang freely and bounce around, the rubber joint keeps them steady, all the components that are tightened/loosened to make adjustments are heavy-duty and “feel” like they will last a very long time, boom weighting is effective, mic clip attachment is heavy duty. Mine came with a free cable and mic clip! Wasn’t expecting that! Best mic stand I own. Worth a bit extra money for the quality you get. This’ll be my go-to stand when I replace my old Onstage Stands brand floppy stands that are close to giving out. You will feel the difference immediately when you pick this thing up. Highly recommend.
**Update**
Just bought my second MK5 Stand and its just as good as the first. Love this thing!

Q. So what do you get for £19.99 (12 June 22) that includes £20.00 worth of extras?
A. A top quality professional level stand that should actually last more than five minutes.
How? No idea, it’s unbelievable, but Iv’e bought 2 and Iv’e 2 more on order!
.
25 June Wish Amazon would sort out their stock levels, it’s a irritating having to wait
for each order. But this stand is far better than any other at the price. And there’s freebies!

07 July Delayed yet again. Very bad but still unbeatable value.

13 July Got them and worth the wait now. EXCELLENT VALUE DEAL – BUY THIS ONE.

I wasn’t expecting such a good product, but was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of this boom mic kit! The components are very sturdy, and heavily built — I suppose this is to help the boom balance with heavier microphones. I got this for my Turtle Beach stream mic, and using the mic’s included adapter it fit on the boom just fine. Note that the mic’s adapter didn’t have an articulation to hold the mic vertically on the boom, but this hardly matters. The boom can hold the mic just fine even at its furthest extension. Just what I wanted.
I don’t need them, but the boom kit comes with a nice long XLR cable and a mic holder. There’s an adapter for something I don’t know anything about — 1/2 inch female threaded that fits on the end of the boom, and it has what looks like a 1/4 inch male threaded end. There’s also a foam mic cover for good measure.

I have purchased two of these Samson mic stands and our singers really like them. They are weighted and much better quality than the $19.99 el-cheapo stands. We have a Shure Super 55 mounted on one which is a heavy broadcast type mic and it balances very well. Spend the little extra to get one of these and you won’t be disappointed. You would have to get into the $100+ range to find a better stand.

Perfect solution for holding up a condenser mic with shock mount. Has good weight on the bottom to keep it stable, and just being mindful of the positioning of the legs in relation to which direction the boom is pointing, I never worry about it tipping over and damaging the mic. Is eas to adjust, and came with some nice add ons, including with mic cable clips for keeping the cable organized and out of the way.

The picture shows a boom with a adjustable length. I received one that doesn’t have that adjustment and that is specifically why I ordered this stand. The picture on the box has an adjuster on the boom as well. The worst part is I need it too badly to return it. Just beware what you see is not what you get.

This turned out to be above my expectations… better quality and faster and cheaper delivery than I expected. Nicer product than I had assumed the price would have indicated. Thanks…It will be nice to once again work with a boom mic that doesn’t require me to bend to keep it in singing range. So looking forward to the steadfast experience… thanks for the quick response.
