B. Miklas –
I did not purchase this condenser mic from Amazon. I evaluated about 6 shotgun and condenser microphones back in 2004 and for television and film (mostly dialogue recording and sound FX) this sounded like you are there. Clean and no coloration.
CMC6 Preamplifier, MK41 Capsule. If you are swinging a boom with this you will need a better windscreen that this foam than this B5 Pop Filter as it is called “pop filter” it is for plosives only not for wind of any sort including swinging a boom holding your mic for dialogue. Make sure you also have a very good shockmount (not included) as it picks up a lot of handling noise from a boompole.
the collette cable is a great accessory for low profile use. I have the same color grey matte finish and it has held up. I do store it in the wooden box.
I have successfully used this microphone as a mono drum overhead mic a couple times.
This preamp and mic are susceptible to very high humidity and mine just started squealing one day on location. There is no remedy except put a Silica gel desiccant bag and seal it up and dry it out from humidity.
