The good:I bought it for gaming and it is perfect! I LOVE the game audio and chat wheel so I can adjust other players volume. Which is super helpful in random squad matches and people’s mic often are all over the place. I like the fact that the mic lights up red so you know if you are muted or not when going to the bathroom or answering a call. 24 hour battery life is good. This is the best connection in terms of distance so far. I can still hear sounds going outside my house before it cuts out. The range is amazing. The bad:They are a bit on the heavy side. If you sit still and dont move your head too much it’s not too bad. The clamp is on the weaker side despite adjusting the headband. I can not lean forward to pick anything off the ground. The headset will fling right off my head. While the ear muffs are soft foam makes for a comfy fit. After a year or two it does get smelly from the oils from the ear and constant wear. Despite me cleaning it with alcohol wipes and even taking off the muffs and washing it soapy water the smell do comeback. It breeds bacteria pretty easy. I finally had to get a new head set after 3 years because my mic began to break down and cause my volume to significantly reduce in volume where people can’t hear me.I’ve been through several headsets recently and I have to say this one had ALL the gaming functions I’m looking for, for my game playing style but it’s not most comfortable. I have some that are super light and comfy with great sound but doesn’t have the chat/game wheel or red light for the mic. I wished I could Frankenstein all my favorite headsets to create the perfect one.

The SteelSeries Arctis 7 is a well-made, wireless, and aesthetically pleasing set of headphones. I originally bought this because (1) I needed a new set of headphones, and (2) it was recommended by a friend.I am writing this review after four (4) months of almost daily usage.AESTHETICS/PACKAGINGThe packaging of the product and the aesthetic of the product itself is great. I have zero complaints as I have received the package in brand-new condition. I absolutely love the white colour of the headphones — it is sleek, matte, and clean. There is no RGB feature, so if you are an RGB junkie, this product is not for you.FUNCTIONALITY(1) PC: I use a Windows 10 system, and so far the functionality has been fine for me for the most part. At first, I didn’t know why it just turned off after 30 minutes of being idle. It took me a while to figure out the fact that I can set up the headphones to automatically shut off, or just to leave it on (although that’d drain my battery). The nice thing about these headphones is that if you forget to power it off after shutting down your PC, it’ll automatically power down after a solid 10-15 minutes, which is great for power-saving.I also love how I can go back and forth with Game and Chat mode on my headphones. At first it was confusing, but with some time and usage, I got used to it and became handy when I utilise Discord and whatever game that I am playing. The fact that I can mute myself without using a mute function on my software has to be the best thing. Sometimes my friends find me suspicious or weird when I mute myself (I… don’t know why), or sometimes if I have to sneeze/cough a lot because I’m sick, this is a quick and easy way to excuse myself from others during a voice call.As for usage with gaming, it is very smooth and does not break or disrupt. The only time when it will is if you have a connectivity issue with your wireless hub that’s provided (probably with your wire or USB), or your Internet connection (for any voice calls).(2) OTHER ELECTRONICS: I have tried using this for my phone, but the only issue is that your phone will not work with the wireless functionality, as it must be wired (wire for 3.5mm jack is provided in the package). I’ve used it for my phone once, and never again. The headphones are kind of bulky for me to carry it around unless if I bring it for conference calls in business trips.COMFORTAs a female, my head is smaller than an average male head and so sometimes I find my headphones slipping off here and there. The ear cushions are soft and comfortable — I’ve never found an issue with the cushions regarding comfort.CONNECTIVITYThe fact that these are wireless are life-changing. If you’ve never used wireless anything, it’s really time to change. I can go from my room to the restroom (which usually causes disruption) to another room that’s at least 15 feet away, and there is no disturbance or disruption. In fact, I went outside (right by my back door to the back yard) and I can still speak and listen to music/audio clearly.COMPATIBILITYI can only speak for Windows 10 (PC). It works perfectly with the system and I’ve had no problems with it so far.BATTERY LIFEObviously with any system, the battery life is pristine the first time you use it. The headphones have lasted me about 3 days of an average of 4-6 hours of usage/day. I would say that’s pretty solid for a set of wireless headphones. The great thing about this headset is you can tell when the battery is going low by the power button light (will not be green) and the sound it makes when you power on/off the headset (will have a slower sound when power is low). Currently, I use the headphones for 4-6 hours a day, for about 3 days of usage, with just a single full charge. I charge my headphones when I do not use my PC (with my PC on since it is USB charge).NOISE-CANCELLING FEATURESThis is the one feature I dislike about this product, which is why I’m giving this product 4-stars. I’ve noticed that the noise-cancelling feature is the weakest point of this product — the sound leaks A LOT from the headset to the point where if I were to just leave my audio running with my headset off with medium volume, I can hear the music from about a 5-10 feet distance. I’d say, that’s not a good sign if you want noise-cancelling features. Luckily I do not care so much about this feature and my room’s door does that job, so I’m okay with it.OVERALL4/5 rating, mostly because of the noise-cancelling feature and my grip with these headphones. Otherwise, the general functionality, compatibility, and aesthetic features of the product is very satisfying. It’s a great overall product, and I’d recommend it to anyone who isn’t sensitive about noise-cancelling features.

I want to preface this by saying I literally just got these, delivered 30 minutes ago, and these are my first impressions. I WILL update over time. I looked at reviews for these and were discouraged by the negative reviews. QC is obviously a little lackluster, and I sat on the decision to purchase these for months. Impulsively, I pulled the trigger for these and I hope I got the good stuff, not the defect.tl;dr (will also update this): They sound decent, would be excellent after EQ tinkering. Microphone’s hot trash, super quiet to my friends, with a constant beeping (not sure why, but it is an occurrence). They’re super comfortable. I don’t feel them on my head, but when I do, they feel like clouds. Clamp force, “quiet.” They don’t clamp hard, just enough to stay on my head, and not enough to make my ears and head hurt from my glasses pressing into my head. Dials on headset are very sensitive.UPDATE: Upon tinkering, the microphone works! My friends said it sounded crisp, although a little fuzzy, too. It’s very directional, which makes putting the mic in the right spot really difficult. The ski band, after proper adjustment, holds the headset on my head well, no changes there. EQ tuning made this thing sound amazing, with no harshness, and clear sound all around. All in all, my opinion hasn’t changed, and the review still holds merit, and my recommendation of this set.Right out the gate, unboxing experience is really nice, but not “premium” feeling. I don’t really care about this, just figured it should be known to some with pedantics about this kind of situation.Table of Contents (this is a much longer review than I expected)1. First impressions2. Clamp force and fit3. Comfort4. Materials, durability5. Sound Quality6. Microphone7. The Et CeteraFirst Impressions – These headphones are literal plug and play. Before opening the manual (I didn’t even pull it out of the plastic wrapping), I plugged in the transmitter, and the drivers were downloaded and implemented right away. I simply clicked the power button on the headphones at first, but having no reaction, I simply held the button and right away, the headphones were connected. And in under 3 minutes, I was using these headphones. That’s really impressive.Clamp force and fit – I have glasses, and headphones hurt me in the long run. And the super nice thing about these headphones right away, is the clamp force. Not too much, not too little. They come off if I violently shake my head (but who does that, anyways), but I can look down, look up, or whatever else without these coming off. They do shift a little, but I didn’t adjust these to fit me perfectly, and I probably won’t. They sit really nice. Back to the clamp force. It’s really loose, in a good way. They have enough force to stay in place, but not enough to put pressure on my head with my glasses.Comfort – Right away, these are super comfortable. They’re not light, but they’re not heavy. I find myself already forgetting these are on my head, despite my excitement about these. The ear cups are really soft and porous, they literally feel like marshmallows or clouds. I don’t feel much on or around my ears, but when I do, they’re very very soft. If I could describe a physical contact interaction with an abstract adjective, “quiet” would be perfect.Materials, durability – I just got these, so I can’t say much here. They feel solid, despite the plastic construct. The ear cups, as aforementioned earlier, are soft, and they feel like premium cloth(?). They feel great on my head and in my hands. A little concerned about the hinge connecting the cans to the headband, but we will see. Again, all speculation as of now, but I will be updating this review.Sound quality – Really good, but not great out of the box. They sound balanced, with highs, mids, and lows all in play. A little more bass could be nice, but I’m sure I can adjust that, I do read about EQ’s a lot. Sometimes the highs feel a little harsh, which, again, probably adjustable. At 100% on both PC and these headphones, these are loud. Not extremely so, but loud enough for me to want to turn the headphones down before I lose more of my hearing. At max volume, everything sounds just as they do at 50%. At low, you start losing a lot of the sounds, and they start blending (but who cranks headphones super low). All in all, pretty grandeur. (Note in update with adjusted sound)The ETC.-The volume dials feel super sensitive, but they’re surprisingly not. Deliberate touch will move the dials and nothing else-There’s also a “chat mix” dial. Super awesome. To think there’s a dial that can replace me tinkering with the volume mixer on pc, or adjusting everyone’s volumes in discord, is mindblowing, and very much a convenience I wholeheartedly accept.

Amazing versatile headphonesGreat headphones, originally bought the aniversary? or whatever edition which were refurbished back 4 years ago for £80, did great, served me (a very non caring owner) for those 4 years and I decided it is time for them to go.With these new ones not much changed, one downside of them is that sometimes, when you turn your PC back on the computer does not see them, so you have to kneel down and unplug-replug them so your PC can see them, happened with both of them and not really sure what is causing it but it is more of a nuisance than a real issue. What I love the most about these, is that you can plug in your musical instrument into these, or plug in an amp into them with the aux cable, and what will happen is that you will hear your musical instrument be it bass/guitar/elec chello/double bass and what is happening on your computer… why is it so great? well they have really good bass, like really good! I have to crank my bass almost up to max for them to start to distort the sound, and I have an active bass, you can listen to a song and play back to it, all quietly not disturbing anyone, and at the same time have great gaming headphones.Amazing sound quality and long battery life, I use them a lot, no speakers means they are on every time I use the PC for watching/listening/playing games or my bass, they last a good few days before glowing red, and even then it gives you another 30 min/hour or so of usage. All in all, amazing sound quality, good battery life and very comfortable, noise cancelling isn’t the best but you can barely hear someone talking normally a few meters away with them on.

Incredibili!

Average wireless headsetThis headset is toted as the best for the price this year by many reviewers. I found it does an OK job but there are several shortcomings to take into account because the price of these cans is quite above the average of gaming headsets. I was looking for a headset with the following attributes: wireless but able to use a wire if necessary, good microphone quality since I do work were I have to communicate with people over internet, detachable microphone and non obtrusive, good battery life, comfortable for long periods, good controls, sobre appearance; no ‘gaming lights and design’, etc. And the most important for me; the headset needs to be compatible with Macintosh OS; I found out that many manufacturers claim their headset is compatible, but many are not, so far only the Arctis 7 is the most compatible but still lacks surround sound that is available for Windows. So here a list of Pros and Cons to help you decide if this headset is for you.PROS:- Excellent battery life- Excellent range; I can literally walk all over the house and I did not loose the connexion- lots of controls, connexions: volume, chat volume, mute, direct wired connexion, mute light is visible, power on/off, external connector for sharing sound with another headphone. There are also input and output connectors on the transmitter itself; very handy if you want to connect other devices.- retractable microphone- very good quality microphone (but no noise cancellation)- Engine software works with Windows and Mac; lots of controls including EQ, microphone feedback, battery level, discord integration and many other plugin applications available.CONS:- The cans are very big, so OK for a big head but looks big on medium and small head; I would not walk in the street with these. Also, the mat black plastic looks cheap.- Adjustment is only with a ski goggle elastic band; not very comfortable. I prefer the traditional steel sliders.- Comfort is very average; the cans weight create pressure on the top of your head and I do not think it will be comfortable for many hours. The cushions are made of material with a soft foam; they feel warm after a while, probably hot during summer days; I prefer memory foam with leather or fake breathable leatherette.- The sound quality is OK but lacks bass and volume; I need to put the volume to almost maximum. Even using the EQ, I cannot produce enough bass. Several other headsets offer much better sound quality for the same price (but not compatible with Mac)- While the microphone offers very good quality, I have to crank the input level to the max; it would be better if I had some range.- The headset turns automatically off after a preset time (30 to 90 minutes) if nothing plays in the headset. While this is a good power saving feature, it could be a problem for sessions where you need to talk and there is nothing playing in the headset. So make sure to set the power off to 90 minutes if you need to give talks for more than 30 minutes.- The connector for the analog input is propriatery instead of being a standard 3/8, weird.- The power connector is micro usb; it would have been better to be USB C- The volume controls are analog and they can be easily be changed accidentally; it would have been better if they would have more resistance and be digital.- make sure you plug the transmitter directly into the computer; an external USB hub is not reliable.- No DTS surround on Mac software (does it matter?)To summarize, this headset is a good wireless option if you use a Mac but otherwise, other options might be better for the price.

If the sound quality was only betterThis is one of those mixed-bag products, where some things you like, some you don’t.2018 Gaming Headset Of The YearThe headset is well made. Heavier than I expected, the “ski strap” headband design and the large oversized ear pads, are meant to distribute the weight around your head. (Most headphones are uncomfortable for me, with too much clamping pressure, apparently designed for smaller heads). Unfortunately your ears actually rest AGAINST the cloth-covered speaker (the soft earpad cushions don’t actually rest ON your ears, but rather AROUND your ears). At first the headset feels heavy, but after about 10min one acclimates somewhat, especially when immersed in a game, but the weight/clamping force is always there (they also press your glasses pretty tight against your head – don’t know why someone hasn’t invented a fix for that problem), and they do get warm and uncomfortable after a while.Cool features:line in/out (you can hook up your phone/external speakers);gaming/chat levels mix (so you can chat on the phone and still hear the game as well – your significant other will love that – or mix the game’s sound/chat levels). The SoundThe good: immersive, surround-sound for gaming improves the in-game experience. The bad: If you’re expecting good audio quality, you’ll be disappointed: “boxy” sounding with no real mids/highs definition. Not good at all for music; at best for TV and gaming only ( Again, one has to wonder in the design of these things, why audio quality doesn’t seem to be considered. The noise-cancellation works fine, but over-the-ear phones cut off outside sounds well enough without it. I’d rather not trade high-fidelity sound, for an unneeded NC feature.Using their downloadable software helps some, but no amount of tweaking will make these headphones sound very good if the hardware just isn’t there (Their higher end model supposedly has very good sound, but haven’t tried it.Problems:The sound sometimes cuts out completely for no reason I can figure out, then will suddenly reappear (wired and wireless both). Sometimes the headset automatically shuts itself off, even though the battery is fully charged.Though the product description says the battery charge lasts for 24 hours of gaming, the one I got runs out after only a few hours (at least the headset still functions while charging, so you can still use them, as long as you don’t mind the usb charging cable plugged into it.)Finally got the “highest rated gaming mic” to work: you need to use the downloaded software to get it to work.No amount of tweaking Windows 10 settings, or the other audio options on my pc, resulted in any sound at all.The mic sounds decent, but for some reason it’s hard to get enough volume (tried everything – maybe because the mic only extends to the edge of your mouth?)Overall a decent gaming headset, as long as you’re willing to overlook the lackluster audio-quality and the weight.Update: I’ve since tried some other comparably priced models, and in retrospect this model was the best.If someone came out with a truly decent, affordable gaming headset, they’d lead the pack. Why doen’t this happen?UPDATE:As I really like the features on this headset, decided to give it another go.The clamping force is a bit less than the earlier ones I tried, but the sound quality is worse, the SteelSeries Engine Software has no effect that I can hear, and the sound sometmes cuts out completely (wired or wireless) for no reason, especially in the game Fortnite. The ears press hard against the hard plastic speaker cover (the ear cushions/cups are not deep enough to keep the plastic off your ears – very uncomfortable, I have to take them off every half hour or so (more if I’ve been playing longer, as your ears to hurt after awhile).Love the features, got it on Black Friday, so almost worth keeping just for gaming (music, tv, etc sounds very dull).Overall not enough volume – has to be on 9-10 most of the time.
