I purchased this Mic as upgrade from my Blue Snowball, So far it’s actually been worse. This seemed like a super convenient product, as you can monitor your voice when plugging a headset directly into it. For PC you NEED to switch the mic to “Xbox mode” to change ANY settings within Turtle Beaches software (Ear Force Audio Hub). This is my first complaint. I’m unsure why I would need to switch the mode, meaning I cant just change settings on the fly. It just doesn’t make sense why you would need to do this in order for the software to work.
The second complaint is this mic picks up just about everything. The TV downstairs can be heard, conversations can be heard, and probably the squirrel outside. I did attempt to change it to Hypercardiod mode but didn’t seem to make a difference. When you have a headset plugged directly into the mic, it picks up when the cable is moved as well as slight taps on the desk. Granted, I do live in an A frame house so things from downstairs do echo more upstairs. Compared to the Blue Snowball mic, it is much worse with this one.
Third and final complaint (as of now) and have not been using the mic. 3 separate occasions while I was streaming on Twitch, I got a robot voice. Making it impossible for people to hear what I was saying. I’m not sure why it did it, but after unplugging it and plugging it back in it worked fine. Maybe I just got a bad unit, or a future firmware update to can fix it but this mic needs a lot of work.
At this point I’d recommend a Blue Snowball for half the cost! No software to mess with, and it works consistently everytime.

I’ve had this microphone for nearly 4 years.

Although I don’t ask others how it sounds to them when talking over voice chats, nobody ever says anything about the microphone’s quality, indicating that it isn’t bad, but isn’t exceptional either. I have listened back to myself in recordings, and in my opinion, the sound quality is pretty good.

I have only dropped it a few times over the years, but it is still in perfect condition, even after 4 years.

Not bad. It’s a cheap condenser mic, so it’s not going to be a high quality mic, but it works fine for me. Ironically, it was complaints about this mic picking up everybody talking in a room that sold me on it. I’ve been trying to find a cheap condenser-based for tabletop gaming conference calls, and this works beautifully. The heavy base with rubber feet means it doesn’t pick up our dice rolls or pencils clattering on our hardwood table, and our remote players have a chance to join in.

I tried using this as a gaming mic, and I found it fell short. The none-boosted modes designed for close-in work won’t really pick you up unless you’re just a few inches from the mic itself, and even its most limited, focused mode (with high gain) it will still pick up a lot of background noise if you leave it sitting on your desk.

For conferences, it works alright. The dual-mic setting adds lot of post-processing tinniness to the sound, however, so don’t expect to record a chorus with this thing and have it come out angelic.

If you keep these things in mind, it will serve your purpose.

I bought this for use in Xbox Live parties and streaming. My old Turtle Beach headset I paid $80 had great audio quality coming from the built in mic. So surely if I spent $80 on not a headset, but a dedicated mic that I could then plug high quality headphones into, it would surely have to sound better than mostly everything else right? Wrong. This mic sounds like you’re speaking into a 2010 Built-in laptop mic. Anyhead set with a built in mic sounds better which is crazy because the headsets are putting money into their audio output with the mic just being a part of the package. Also is mentions a headphone amplifier, I plugged in my AKG 702s and get as much power out of my Xbox controller as I do the Stream Mics, “built-in headphone amplifier”. The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars and not 1, is because the features, other than audio input/output, all work well. It plugs directly into Xbox and works without fuss, which is fantastic since there doesn’t seem to be enough mics that meet the Xbox compatibility plug and play guidelines. The different settings such as Hypercardoid for noise rooms, and bi-directly work as described, and the mic looks great. Still I can’t give it anymore than 2 stars when it’s advertised as a streaming mic and watching anyone stream with audio quality like this would surely make you believe they aren’t a dedicated streamer.

it is honestly hard to say if this is any good or not, it seems to be good at first and have all the different modes on it is useful if empty.

looks good in in the packaging and was light since its made of plastic which depending what you want isnt always great.

its a simple plug in and set as default mic on pc, easy compered to other mics
same with PS4 plug in and set to default and your done, however for the PS4 it picks up everything and its mother on high sensitivity and on low you could blow something up next to it and it might just about hear it.
i havent been able to use it on the xbox one yet since ive had no reason to, sorry.

it is useful will all its different modes (cardioid, bi-directional, hypercardioid, omnidrectional)

the style of it is pretty cool and you can plug headphones in the mic for live playback (stops me from having to shout to hear myself while playing games) and it shows up as a headset on the ps4 if you do set it up like that. you can adjust the volume on the mic its self (the volume that comes though the mic) changing modes is just a button push on the back and if you hold the button you can change it from low sensitivity to high.

the stand/base it comes with adds to its looks.

but its made of plastic so if you touch the very loud buttons whoever your talking to will hear it even the light touch mute button which can be annoying, as said before the mic when used with the PS4 on high sensitivity will pick up everything and on low sensitivity i would need to eat the damn thing for people to hear me, and theres no in between no matter what you do with the mic settings on the PS4, on PC its fine and i have easy control over it and i can set it to auto but you just cant on the PS4 (sorry i havent tried yet on xbox one)

ill try it on the xbox one at some point and update this.

*update* so a firmware update came out a while ago and has improved this mic 10 fold, now the low sensitivity setting on the mic is much better for ps4 as long as its on a stand and not the base it comes with.
for xbox this mic is probably the mic one ive ever used but not with out a few flaws, set up i thought was going to be along the lines of the ps4/pc you plug it in and system did the rest but oh how i was wrong (this might have just been the one i got and not all)
after 30 minutes of trying to figure out why the xbox one didnt like it i reset the mic to factory and plugged it in again and this time it worked fine but the sound the mic was picking up was terrible so i again updated the mic and everything worked fine again, now while i will say this is the best mic ive used for xbox one and i even showed it off to some friends that said the same thing, you could get a even better mic for a little more money but if you have a budget and still want a really good mic this is a great choice

so AFTER the update to the mic

on PC great mic works well and is easy to change any settings to fit with you need.
on PS4 its great in most ways but if you use a 5.1 or 7.1 headset do not plug it into this thing (most have there own USB but still)
on XBOX ONE the best mic ive used be far

the software for changing the settings can be downloaded on the turtle beach website.

The only thing i truly like about this microphone is that it plays you’re voice back in real time through your headphones or speakers, whatever it is you are using for sound. The noise gate is not very good for PC players with mechanical keyboards or if you’re a console player and have something like a fan going in your room, the mic more likely than not will pick up background sounds. Sound quality is less than average, if i had to rate sound quality out of 10 id give it a solid 4/10. Physical set up is easy and will require a software update from the turtle beach application which is free you can get it from turtle beaches website. The microphone aesthetically looks good like most turtle beach products. Id recommend a different microphone because of the sound quality however if you really want this microphone it will do what you want it to, theres simply better options available.

    Hi Guys,
Where to start with this Mic, Well It’s performance is different between computers.
I used it on my gaming pc I5 6400 16G Kingston Hyper Fury X @ 2400 Asus GTX 1080 TI FE 11g and must admit worked very well, Low Bass but also low Audio this can be passed by upping the microphone settings, Personally i would use it via a separate sound card not built in cards.
When I used it on my Laptop I7 4770 16gig Corsair Vengeance 1600 GTX 860M 4gig WOW Awesome, Not quite sure why but it was there.
However for the down side. When it arrived it was as if I was sent out a returned Item as one of the locking lugs was missing and the Stand was a bit twisted, also when tightening the frame to the base it seemed to go on for ever and did not tighten all the way so it was lose,
I sent this item back to Amazon, No Quibble whatsoever, I think i was one of the unlucky ones and had a bad item,
This does not reflect on Turtle Beach Products as I have 4 of TB headsets including 2 pairs of X12 And 2 Pairs of PX22 Headsets which work perfect, Unfortunately this must of been a friday mic where staff wanted to go home early,,
