Allen & Heath XONE:DB2 mic review

My read is simple: this belongs at the center of a DJ or audio workstation, not in a lightweight throw-it-in-a-bag setup.

Where I think the XONE:DB2 makes sense

If I were building around the XONE:DB2, I’d treat it as a fixed control point. The 20.5-inch by 18.5-inch footprint needs real desk depth, and the 8.7-inch height is another reminder that this is not a tiny desktop box. Add rear cabling, headphones, source devices, and speaker or recording connections, and I’d want a dedicated surface rather than a crowded corner of a desk.

The 19-pound weight is one of the most important details here. For a mixer, that can be a good thing. I generally prefer heavier gear when it is meant to stay put, because cables and hand movement can make smaller units feel unstable. I would not choose this if my priority were fast pack-up, minimal carry weight, or frequent location changes.

What the corded design tells me

The corded electric power source points toward longer, planned sessions. I’d be thinking booth, practice room, studio-style desk, or a permanent home setup. I would not buy this expecting battery convenience or emergency portability.
