This is an exceptional mic stand. Yes, it’s fairly basic. Yes, it costs more than most “Made in China” brands. But quality comes at a price. In this case, the price is very reasonable because simply put, it works! There’s a reason that K&M stands are used by professionals all over the world – they’re solid and reliable. Don’t trust a cheap stand to hold your expensive microphone. Go for German steel. You’ll be glad you did.

Out of the box this is a 5. How long it will remain that way, who knows? Compared to the less expensive “On Stage” and other similarly priced stands, it feels a little more sturdy and seems well made and promises to last a while.
That said, I had a lower priced On-stage stand that lasted a good 7-8 years of regular gigging before it started to give me problems. Even then it still did the job and I was able to eke a good nine years out of it STill using it as a second stand for other musicians. So… if this goes that long… it’ll get a 5.

This is mic stand worth the money. I use 6 stands every week during a regular jam session. A lot of beginning talent abuse and mis use the mic stands and mic—so simple sturdiness is essential. Since May 2019 I have rebuilt cheap stands over and over by salvaging the useable part. The result is that I “consumed” 4 cheap stands. This stand is another breed entirely. Please dont waste your money on those cheap stands. They are flimsy and frustrating. Buy this one if you can. Years ago I bought a professional chrome mic stand that will last forever. It cost over $100 and I’ve never regretted it. This stand is at least that quality. I will never buy s cheap $19.95 mic stand again. Even if they gave them away free you will feel cheated. ( I recently bought 3 Shure Mics and the mic stands came free as an addition to the pkg deal. One broke befoe I used it and the other 2 are headed to the mic stand boneyard as I stripped off parts to do a hopeless repair job to avoid buying an expensive. I am happy I spent the roughly $60 to buy this good. One. I’ll be buying more.

Solid, attractive construction makes this one of the best mic stands I’ve used. The boom arm is fully detachable, making the stand adaptable to your needs.

I had a couple K&M boom stands, maybe 25-30 years old. They were great, but I lost them in a move last year. This new one seems every bit of quality as those old ones. Rare in today’s throw-away world.

I’ve been gigging this stand for a few months short of a year now. It’s still a great stand. The only complaint I have about it is that I tend to eat my microphone while I’m singing, and I can’t get it to lock in tight enough to stop it from swiveling where the height adjustment is. Other than that, it’s rock solid. It’s in as good of shape now as when I bought it even though I’ve been jamming it into the same bag as some speaker stands, and it lives in my basement the rest of the time. There’s still no chipping of the paint, nor any rust to be found.

    *edit 1/3/2023*
I’ve gigged this stand once or twice per month since 2018 (we don’t speak about 2020). It still looks as good as the day I bought it, and it still lives in the same bag as my speaker stands in my basement when I’m not using it. I did have a slight issue with the threads where the microphone attaches. The threads seem to have somehow gotten damaged and made it difficult for the mic clip to stay on. I just had to remove the brass “lock” which gave me more threads to attach the clip to, and it’s worked fine ever since. I’m still happy with this stand, and I’ve purchased other K&M products since because of that.

4 year lifespan and I haven’t even used it that hard; 1-2 gigs per week. First mic stand I’ve ever had that came apart (where the boom attaches, the threaded pieces are all cheap pot metal). I don’t see why I’m paying three times the price of a cheap Chinese stand for something that is not one bit better.

Standard boom stand. Has the handy barbell-style tightener on the boom arm’s tilt axis. Better than those with the plastic wing-nut style tightener.

I own a number of things manufactured in Germany, so there is an expectation of quality. K&M’s boom does not disappoint. Exceptional quality, easy to assemble, ingeniously designed, all belong in the description of this product. It is Well-priced also. There are cheaper alternatives, but I would not compromise on this piece of equipment if you have a $1000 mike on the end of it. K&M has this one perfect. Great in the studio or on the road.

Just received stand. Very excited to get home and open it. Box has clearly been opened at least once and packaged back together with packing tape as well as amazon prime tape. No instructions inside nothing is bagged or packaged. And the stand has wear marks from use. So yeah. I received a used stand. I may return but i might keep it because i need a stand. But not impressed.
