I teach software classes over the internet which means I am at my desk eight hours per day. I needed a headset that would give great performance for sound (both my voice and the students) and was comfortable for all-day wear. I investigated several brands and almost pulled the string on a Jabra headset, but balked because of the price. Then the Logitech H650e came across my desk with good features and a better price. After using it for a while, here is my evaluation of it.Pros:Here are the things I wanted that it has. Stereo sound with coverage for both ears. Over-head band rather than behind-the-head band (like my last set). Business-class design and construction. This one is solidly built and feels like it will last a good long while. Great quality sound both incoming and outgoing. My students have given very good reviews of my voice quality and I can hear them clear as a bell. The set is generally very comfortable and includes a clip to keep the cable secured to my shirt so that the headset is not pull from my head when I move around or by the weight of the cable itself. The mute button on the cable is very handy, also.Cons:Some of the features of the headset are only activated when using compatible software. For example, the in-call indicator light is only useful when on a Skype or similar software call. It does not activate just because you are using the headset. Another issue is the volume of my own voice coming through the headset when I’m talking. Yes, my voice is there, but it is very low and I can find no way to adjust it. Mostly I hear my voice coming from outside the ear phones rather than through them. Less than satisfying, but not enough to send them back. I mentioned that the headset is generally comfortable. But I have noticed that by the end of the day, my ears are getting a little sore and I have to adjust the phones a little to make them feel more comfortable. Admittedly, that may just be my ears.Note:The call connect/disconnect button and the in-call indicator light just became less useful to me as Skype has stopped supporting those features (even though they say they still do). I was in a class and both features were working fine. I got the notice about a new Skype version and installed it. Now those features no longer work. Can’t get anyone from Skype to answer my questions about the claim that the features are still supported. I’ve seen nothing from Logitech about this, either. If you use Skype, be aware.

I am on the phone a lot in the office, typically in online meetings using Microsoft Lync for collaboration. For the past few months I’ve been using a

This headset is outstanding in terms of comfort and sound quality, which is what I was looking for when I bought it. After only one day of intensive usage, I am glad that I went through the day without even noticing that the headset was in my head. I wear glasses and I was afraid that it would end up generating some discomfort, but so far so good.In terms of quality, people that I work with gave me great feedback. I sounded like I was on the same office or room and the background noises (like my keyboard) were still there, but barely noticeable. This is an improvement comparing with my last setup (standard headphone and the notebook microphone, which was too sensitive and would enhance the noises).I like it that it has its own pouch to carry it around and I loved the flat cable (tangle free) and the little controller that easily allows increasing and decreasing the volume, muting the mic and ending the call. The feature that turns on a light on the back of the mic to let other people know that you are in a call is handy, but not useful to me (home office). My only issue with this: it arrived broken. The boom mic is attached to one of the earcups by a fragile plastic component that was already broken when I took it out of the box. That made pointless trying to position the mic closer to my mouth, as it will not hold its position. Because I live abroad, I won’t be able to return this for a new one (too costly). So I will have to resort to improvising a fix for it.

Use it in the office…Noise cancellation is more of amplifying. The headsets/earmuffs are comfy. The mike is very good – sensitive and at the same time does not pick up noise when you are not using it accidentally.I wish it had real noise cancelling features – unless I dont know what I’m doing (hey I expect it’s most of us).

Subpar audio quality on the microphone, thin sounding, headphones sound niceThey replaced another no-name brand USB headset that became flaky, for this price point I expected a better microphone pickup quality, the headphone playback sounds great, but the microphone sounds like a cheap phone. Got negative comments from everyone else in the first Teams meeting I used them.

Expensive, but worth it for MacOS (Logitech H650E A-00057)I am not a fan of Bluetooth headsets, and if you are then look elsewhere. These require old-school USB. That said, they worked immediately and flawlessly under MacOS. I have tried others and while the output was fine, the microphone was often terrible. The output and input on these are both excellent. If you are looking for big bass boom gaming cans, these are not for you…but for conf calls and general music use, they are quite good. They are stereo, which is huge for sound quality. Lightweight, but not flimsy. There is an integrated volume up/down, mic mute, and “answer” button pad (4 buttons total) on the cord. The cord itself is nice flat wire…and won’t tangle into a spaghetti-like mess when you aren’t looking. There is an LED “in use” indicator at the far end (away from your mouth) of the mic boom…but I think you need specific app support to light it up. Oh, and it comes with a decent little travel bag…one you will actually keep and use, I think.Clearly some thought went into this headset. Well done Logitech.

Noise canceling mic is minimal for background noiseIt’s a nice solid unit and feels much better quality than the $50 sennhesier headset I had , the sound is great and it’s comfortable when I try it on (ear pieces are pretty small and sit on ears) but sadly the noise canceling microphone did nothing to reduce background voices for my call recipients. I have tried three different headsets ranging from $30 to this one and honestly my $13 ear bud headset picks up the least background noise (human voices) when I did test calls with my boss from my work space. I noticed almost no difference in background voice volume when i recorded a call myself using this headset. Too bad

Works with MS Teams!Have had logitech headsets before and they’ve always been good. Needed a new one so tried this. The older headsets worked well with Skype, but not with MS teams. This one feels nice on and works perfectly with MS teams. Works with Zoom and other too – but the volume controls and hang up buttons work directly with teams. I did have to do a bit of tweaking on the audio in Windows, but after that, works great! Love it. Lightweight with great quality.

Comfy, light, sound amazing. Cable and controls ruin it.This headset is light, not over ear. It sounds better than any voice headset I’ve tried. It would be perfect had it come with a replacable cable. The one included is permanent, flat+wide and has a very heavy volume control/mute box at a terrible position.
