I’m enjoying this base, good connections nice and snug no play at the out XLR connection and the tightening ring to the mic fits great. Holds mic in place, keeping a snug fit.
Dygytylmon –
solidly built with enough weight to anchor the mic without needing to be fastened down to anything. The on/off switch is very useful so its one less thing for the sound tech to worry about. (He can leave the channel on the PA on, and at a predetermined volume setting). I’m glad we spent the money on this, rather than going with the much smaller base that comes with the podium mic that also doesn’t have a on/off switch on it.

Good weight. Easy to install. Cough button (switch) is a rocker switch. A momentary switch would be a better option. Some who operate the switch may inadvertently forget to reset the switch to on.

When I received the LyxPro XBM-8 it appears to be well-constructed, heavy and excellent non-slip material on the bottom. The mic I am using requires phantom power and initially, the switch was very quiet and did not pop when switching the mic on and off. After a month I started noticing crosstalk (or bleed-through) when switched off. Then rapidly, I started getting popping noises no matter the position of the switch. Now, it’s like the switch doesn’t work at all. Disappointed.

I love this stand. I was able to put it on my control desk without drilling holes for the podium mic. Works perfectly. And looks cool too.

Easy to use, solid material. Glad I bought it.

Slight pop in switch, but acceptable.

Well made, solid base for gooseneck mics with built in XLR connectors.
Many people have questions about the switch. The switch is used to short out the tip and ring conductors, basically silencing the mic. It has a capacitor and resistor in line with it to help reduce pops.
I did not want the switch so it was easy to cut one of the wires (tape it up to prevent shorts), so then the switch no longer functions. If I keep it that way I may remove the switch altogether and cover the hole.
Also, the female XLR on the top has a unique locking feature. Instead of just relying on the push in lock to release the mic, you must screw the ring slightly with moves down to press on the locking pin.
In other words, you can lock the gooseneck xlr in place by unscrew the ring so it moves up and will prevent the mic from being removed by accident.

These bases are sturdy and decent for the price, but they are not completely shielded or grounded as they create a hiss through my system (compared to my other bases) when touching the microphone, not significant but still present. Ultimately they are satisfactory for the price and arrived on time for when I needed them. Happy enough.
