Shure BLX14R/MX53 Review

The Shure BLX14R/MX53 Microphone System is great because it does two things really well: it performs amazingly and feels comfortable to use. It’s built to last, being both light and strong, and the MX153 headset it comes with makes it comfy for long periods. This system makes sound really good, so it’s good for lots of things like pro shows or just everyday stuff. Setting it up is easy for anyone, whether you’re new to this or have experience. But it doesn’t work as well if you’re far away or if you need it for a really long time because its range and battery life aren’t super long. In general, it’s a good choice if you want clear and nice sound for different situations.

Design and Build Quality

  • Versatility: Suited for both professional performances and everyday use in different settings.

System Pros

  • Outstanding sound quality
  • Sturdy build and comfortable headset
  • User-friendly interface and easy setup
  • Versatile for various applications

System Cons

  • Limited operating range
  • Battery life could be improved for extended usage

Conclusion

The Shure BLX14R/MX53 Microphone System is really good because it has great sound, it’s easy to use, and you can use it for different things. The headset is comfy and it works well, but it might not last a really long time or have a strong battery for extended use. Overall, it’s a solid choice for clear sound in many situations.

Works well. The microphone is a little more bulky than others I have used, but it works well.

I am the pastor of a small church and after constant interruption from interference on lesser quality wireless mics, I decided to bite the bullet and spring for what is a rather expensive purchase on a church with a small budget. To my surprise, the clarity and performance was spotless for about 4 months. Suddenly, I started to have problems and the mic would completely drop out. My heart sunk when I saw on Amazon that the window to return had already passed. However, it did have a link to get product support from Shure. After a few minutes of speaking with the Shure rep, I was told to send it in with my receipt (as long as it was under two years) and they would repair it free of charge. The turn around was about two weeks, and it worked flawlessly last Sunday. I even had attendees comment how much better they could hear me last Sunday. Well worth the money and because they actually back up their product, I will be a Shure customer for life.

I’ve been teaching classes for 8 years and I’ve bought several cheap wireless microphone sets. I wish I would have known, this mic is amazing. The sound is perfect and as long as the presenter uses it properly, we get no feedback. The key is to tighten it down to keep it close to the mouth. Its on the side so you don’t get any wind noise. But then you can go near speakers and not get feedback.
I haven’t had any connection issues and amazon batteries last pretty good in it.
The ear piece is great but it does take a bit to figure out how to squish it around your ear to stick properly.

Mic Works Great, Shure has a great web page on the available channels in your area. Before buying the mic, take the time to read it, seriously. You need to purchase the correct mic for your area. The mic just works great, no drop outs, clear and beautiful sound. The box came with a nice rack mount kit, and remote antenna kit, very sweet! Ear mic fits nicely, and comfortably. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

We have used a number of different wireless mics at our church, and this one has the clearest and most stable sound.

This was purchased as a second Headworn wireless mic for our church. The mic has been very comfortable to wear for the pastor. The signal strength of the transmiter has been very good and battery life is excellent. We have a total of five wireless microphones and we get no signal interence at all. I tried using a bargain brand wireless set up a couple of years ago and it was a complete waste of time and money. Signal strength and sound quality were terrible. Stick with the name brands (Shure is my favorite for overall value – price and quality).

replaced an Audio Technica wireless mic which was older and on a re-assigned band. This is used for our pastor and the audio quality compared to what we used before is dramatic. The live audio and dynamic range are far superior and the recorded quality and live stream quality are much improved – realism and presence are as good as a handheld expensive microphone. Highly recommended.

Bought this as a replacement for our Pastor. he was skeptical after the last one he had did not work. After using it only one service, he loves it. It is the best sound quality that we have had in a while. The ear-set conforms around his ear and stays in place. The cord is not thick and bulky, which his last one was…and kept pulling on the mic and causing it not to stay in place.

Definitely give this a 5 star rating. The other nice thing is that we can buy extra lapel mics for guest speakers. Shure has a whole line of compatible mics with this system. A+++

Great device to use for anyone needing a hand free microphone. I’ve bought three and so far I haven’t experience any problems. You can operate up to 6 at a time depending on the band.

These are horrible. They cut in and out at completely random times. I’ve been in contact with Shure for months about this issue to no resolve. The last option is to ship them back to Shure for warranty; but then we’re out our headsets for however many months that will take. DON’T BUY THEM. The other reviews that say these cut in and out are TRUE! I didn’t think it would happen to us, but it did. Save your money and at least buy through a local dealer so you have a human to take them back to if they don’t work.

A reasonably priced wireless headset that works great! Fits comfortably around the ear and stays put. Only negative is that it doesn’t come with a neck clip – not the end of the world, but would be nice to have.
