Wish I could find a heavier base in this shape

The classic chrome Atlas microphone stand! I’ve owned one since I began used vintage style microphones (Heil “Fin,” MXL V900, and MXL CR77) at wedding receptions and other events, for that cool, retro look. Recently bought an additional three units to be used in a n upcoming musical, “The Marvelous Wonderettes,” which is set the the time period 1958-1968. Yes, they’ve been around that long. Accept no substitutes or “just-as-good imitations”!

Made in China now and not quite the same quality it used to be. Churning isn’t as good has a different feel. I understand why music stores sell the older stands for the same as new. It’s also $50… if it were $35, then I guess I would feel a little better about it.

ATLAS — You Da Man. Love, no LOVE your mic stands. I will never buy a cheap GC mic stand again. That’s Guitar Center (GC) I’m talking to. GC does not carry Atlas, why? Well, b/c they don’t make much money on Atlas, so GC sells you junk that you have to replace.
Atlas mic stands are the industry standard. Just get it. Get Atlas, and you’ll have a great mic stand for life.

good and heavy like it should be to keep from tipping over. not real sure about it holding together though. They way it’s put together it seems like it gets loose down at the bottom where it screws in to the base. That is going to take some watching to keep it screwed in tight. There was no underneath locking ring to screw on, no instructions either I might add.
For the money and for what we need it for it’s decent. If you need a real pro stand then look somewhere else.
