The VideoMicro, first available in 2015 and listed as made in China, makes the most sense to me as a practical small-rig accessory from RØDE Microphones. I would buy it for portability and simplicity, not because I expected it to replace careful recording technique. If your camera setup is compact and your subjects are close, it fits the brief. If the recording problem is distance or a noisy environment, I would solve that first.
